Jean Ann Tutterrow Carson was born on August 23, 1931 to Morris and Dorothy Tutterrow.  She was also welcomed into the world by her older brother Jerry.

Growing up, Jean Ann was a member of The Melodies Club that began in the fourth grade and continued throughout her life. Jean Ann graduated with honors from Manual High School in Indianapolis in 1949.  She received a bachelor's degree in music from Indiana University in 1953 followed by a master's degree in music from Butler University in 1963.

She married the love of her life, John Carson on April 4, 1953, while he was serving as a corpsman in the Navy.  They were blessed with 63 years together and two children, Mark and Susan.  They loved camping while their children were growing up, then they built their cabin in Indian River, Michigan.  They enjoyed spending summers with family and friends.

Jean Ann began her teaching career while living in North Carolina, where Johnny was stationed.  She spent over 40 years instilling a love of music into the hearts and minds of thousands of elementary school students.  She spent most of her career teaching music at Homecroft Elementary in Perry Township.  Parents and children alike still have fond memories of her Christmas programs. Over the years, many students have reached out to her to thank her for bringing music into their lives.  Along with being a public educator, she continued to share her passion for music and serving the Lord with others by directing the choir for over three decades at Olive Branch Christian Church.

After Johnny's passing in 2017, Jean Ann moved to Texas where she was cared for by Susan and her family.  Her life was joyous, filled with love, compassion and kindness.

Jean Ann passed away peacefully on the evening of February 23, 2021.  She is survived by her children; Mark Carson (Connie) and Susan Carson Larsen (Wayne).  She also leaves memories with twelve grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren.

Jean Ann was preceded in death by her husband, father, mother and brother.

The family will receive friends at a drive-through calling from 1:00pm until 2:30 pm, Saturday, March 6, 2021 in the memorial tent behind the Benjamin Franklin Mausoleum at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens, 1977 S. State Road 135, Greenwood.

Funeral services will be private and at the convenience of the family.
