Jeanne Marie Powers, 82, of Indianapolis, passed away January 15, 2017. The daughter of Alfred J. and Myrtle J. Fry Moses, Jeanne was born January 24, 1934, in Pershing, Iowa.
In 1999, Jeanne retired from Baker & Daniels, LLP where she worked as a legal secretary for over 30 years. Jeanne was a coalminer''s daughter and a child of the Depression. She was involved in doing the family genealogy; enjoyed spending quality time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She loved bird watching; she was smart and witty and loved to make people laugh and playing practical jokes on them.
Jeanne is survived by sons, Kevin P. (Donice) Powers of Indianapolis and John H. (Emily) Powers of Goodlettsville, Tennessee; daughters, Mary Elizabeth "Betsy" (Steve) Wilkinson of Tampa, Florida, Lisa E. (Robert) Helweg of Greenwood, Leslie J. (Scott) VanHoogstraat of Carmel and Jennifer A. Powers (Bryan Danner) of Indianapolis; sister, Roberta J. (James) Frey of East Peoria, Illinois; 17 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, Jeanne was preceded in death by siblings, Larry W. Moses and Lodema K. Holcomb, grandson, William Patrick Hanley and ex-husband, George W. Powers.
Funeral services 11:00 a.m. January 21, 2017 at Forest Lawn Funeral Home - 1977 South State Road 135, Greenwood, where friends may call from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. January 20th. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens, Greenwood.
