Jimmie Dethridge, 78, passed away Wednesday, June 29, 2011 at his daughter''s residence in Spiceland. Jimmie was born on February 8, 1933 in Indianapolis to the late Mart L. and Dorothy (Henderson) Dethridge. Jimmie served in the U.S. Air Force from 19511955 during the Korean Conflict.
Jimmie was a crane operator for GMC in Indianapolis for 36 years before retiring in August 1999. He enjoyed traveling, taking cruises, going to the casinos, and working in the yard. He was a very good dancer and was a member and competitor with 5-Star Dance Studio in Indianapolis. He also enjoyed spending time at the Franklin Skate Club. His family will sadly miss him.
Jimmie is survived by his loving children: Suzanne Meltzer (William); Linda McGee (Denny); Jim Dethridge; and B.J. Dethridge; 9 grandchildren; and 9 great-grandchildren.
Jimmie was preceded in death by his parents; wife JoAnn (Brunson) Dethridge of 26 years; a brother; and 2 sisters.
Visitation will be on Saturday, July 2, 2011 from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. at Forest Lawn Funeral Home, 1977 S. State Road 135, Greenwood. The funeral service will follow at 3:00 p.m. Burial will take place in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.
