Jo Ann
(Kaylor) Cox
Mar 24, 1950 — Jan 30, 2020
Jo Ann (Kaylor) Cox, 69, of Indianapolis, passed away peacefully the morning of January 30, 2020 in her home surrounded by her family. She was born March 24, 1950 in Indianapolis to Robert W. and Dorothy (Bowsman) Kaylor, Sr.
Jo Ann graduated from Southport High School in 1968. Her only daughter, Michelle was born in 1970 and she married her husband, James "Jim" Cox in January of 1977. In 1980 Jo Ann went to work for the Federal Reserve Bank and retired from there in 2004. Jo Ann was a very active lady, always on the go. She loved being a chaperone for Rise Learning Center and teaching aerobics at Project Gather. She volunteered many times for the Mini Marathon each May, and supported many other causes by participating in their walks, such as Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure.
Jo Ann loved spoiling her family; she loved her daughter and grandchildren fiercely. There was never a game or extracurricular activity that she missed. She also cared for her ailing father, visiting with him daily and making sure he would get out of the house and move around, not wanting him to get complacent. Jo Ann and her father were best of friends and she was by his side when he passed away just one month ago. When Jo Ann wasn't working or volunteering in the community, she loved traveling, especially to the beach and any beach would do. She called it her happy spot. (She had a second secret happy spot called Indiana Grand Casino… shhh!)
Jo Ann was full of love and life. She will be greatly missed.
Jo Ann is survived by her husband of 43 years, Jim; daughter, Michelle Cox; grandchildren, Dominique A. Scott and Lauryn A. Scott; brothers, Robert W. (Sue) Kaylor, Jr., Michael B. (Katy) Kaylor, and Tracy Lee Kaylor; and many nieces and nephews.
Jo Ann was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Dorothy Kaylor.
