Jo Ann Thornberry, 81, passed away Tuesday, February 28, 2012 surrounded by family. Jo Ann was born on January 9, 1931 in Indianapolis to the late Herman and Maude (Whiting) Myers. Jo Ann is a 1949 graduate of Decatur Central High School. She married her high school sweetheart Charles W. Thornberry on May 6, 1950.
Jo Ann was a secretary and bookkeeper and had a passion for quilting, cooking, bridge, collecting antiques, and reading. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.
Jo Ann is survived by her loving husband of 61 years, Charles; their children: Mark (Debra) Thornberry, Dale (Paula) Thornberry, and Kay Thornberry (Laura Langston); 4 grandchildren: Matthew (Tina) Thornberry, Adam Thornberry, Leah (Brandon) Wagler, and Derek Thornberry; great-grandson Carson Wagler; and sister Kathleen Floyd.
Forest Lawn Funeral Home of Greenwood is assisting the family during their loss. Per Jo Ann''s request, there will be no funeral service and the family will hold a private memorial at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the American Heart Association.
