Joan Beverly 'Bev' Dearing, 89, of Greenwood, IN passed away peacefully surrounded by family on November 23, 2024. She was born in Indianapolis, IN to the late Bessie and Fredrick Weidman.
Bev was born and raised in Indianapolis. She spent much of her time helping her family with household chores, gardening, and canning what they had grown. She eventually got a job at a drugstore working the soda machine to help her mother and father, always having a high commitment to helping family.
Bev met the love of her life and married Harold in 1952. They began their family in Indianapolis, where Bev raised her children and worked at Blocks, a local department store, for over 20 years as a supervisor before finishing her career at the family owned automotive shop in Greenwood, where she retired in 2018.
Bev lived for her family. Her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchild brought her the most joy. She was blessed with a large family, full of love. They enjoyed many vacations together, including cruises. She took so much pride in her family and showed her love through preparing family meals. She never allowed an empty stomach, and always had words of wisdom and kindness to share. Her love that she poured into so many will continue to live on through her long list of loved ones.
Bev is survived by her adoring children, Donna (Mike) Lory, Darrell (Lisa) Dearing, Deena (Robin) Taylor, Devonna (Mike) Blumenschein, and Delilah 'Charlie' (Dan) Goss; grandchildren Mike, Paul, and Tim Lory, David and Kelly Dearing, Marie Taylor, Michelle Konieczny, Amber Onken, Ashley Tilson, Allison Lipe, Nicholas, Kyle and Jessica Goss; 24 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great-granddaughter as well as her sisters, Audrey Kortzendorf and Sandy Detty.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a grandson Jason Goss, her husband Harold Dearing, brother Fredrick Weidman, brother Stan Weidman, brother Mike Weidman, and sister Sharron McDowell.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, December 4, 2024 from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm at Forest Lawn Funeral Home, 1977 S. State Road 135, Greenwood, IN 46143.
Funeral services will be held immediately following the visitation Wednesday at 12:00 pm in the Funeral Home with burial following at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.
