Joan Smithey Foley, 64, of Indianapolis, passed away Sunday, March 16, 2014. The daughter of Alfred L. and Vinnie R. Doty Smithey, Joan was born September 19, 1949 in Greenwood, Indiana.

She was a 1967 graduate of Center Grove High School. She worked in food service at IUPU-Kokomo for 10 years. Joan enjoyed reading, crocheting and sewing and was an avid Indianapolis Colts fan.

Joan is survived by sons, William B (Janell) Foley, Jr. of Columbus, and Christopher D. (Jennifer) Foley of Ft. Campbell, Kentucky; daughter, Chasity D. (Jerry) Engel of Indianapolis; brothers, Billy (Yvonne) Smithey and Ronald (Susie) Smithey, both of Morgantown and Richard (Donna) Smithey of Greenwood; sisters, Frances (Paul) Tinkle of Lebanon and Jeannette (Lee Chaffins) Lovely of Greenwood; ten grandchildren. Besides her parents, Joan was preceded in death by brother, Robert Smithey and sisters, Carolyn Purkhiser and Brenda Bunce.

Services 1:00 p.m. Thursday, March 20, 2014 in Forest Lawn Funeral Home - 1977 South State Road 135, Greenwood. Friends may call at the funeral home after 11:00 a.m. on Thursday. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens, Greenwood.
