Indianapolis:
Joe C. Franklin, 85, passed away Sunday, December 4, 2011. Joe was born on June 1, 1926 in Macon County, TN to the late Noah and Eunice (Fishburn) Franklin. Joe is a WWII Army veteran. On September 30, 1977 he married Wilma J. Jones.
Joe was a millwright supervisor retiring from General Motors after many years of service. He loved golfing, traveling, and working outside in his yard. He was a longtime member of Bethel Missionary Baptist Church, the VFW, the Yorkwright Masons, and the Shriners.
Joe is survived by his loving wife Wilma of 33 years; children: Larry Franklin (Linda), Judy Mondry (Gordy), and Tim Wright; brother Donald Franklin (June); sister Debbie Anderson (Don); 7 grandchildren; and 5 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be on Wednesday, December 7, 2011 from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Forest Lawn Funeral Home, 1977 S. State Rd. 135, Greenwood. The funeral service will be on Thursday, December 8, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home with Pastors Doug Skinner and Terry Foster officiating. Interment will be in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens with full military rites honored. Memorial contributions may be made to the Parkinson''s Foundation.
