Mrs. Joella 'Jody' Powers Nutgrass, Brownsburg, passed away on the morning of Thursday, November 4, 2021 at her residence. She was 79. Jody was born June 7, 1942 in Indianapolis, Indiana, a daughter of the late Russell B. and Maggie V. (Brazzell) Powers.

Jody had been employed in the cafeteria at Center Grove High School and retired in 1997 after 5 years of service. She spent much of her leisure time sewing and created many small blankets and comforters which she donated to various area charities. After her retirement, she and her husband spent 11 years enjoying the deserts of Arizona before returning to Indiana in 2008. She also enjoyed bowling and she and her husband were members of several mixed leagues over the years. Jody had a heart for animals, especially dogs. She attended Glenn's Valley Church.

Jody is survived by her loving husband, Gene Nutgrass; her children, Kim (Brad) Mendenhall and Scott Nutgrass as well as her grandchildren, Candas, Ashley, Jessica, Brittany, Nick and Hunter.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in passing by a son, David Nutgrass and a sister Donna Martin.

A private family gathering will take place at a later date.
