Obituary

Joseph Earl McAllister, 77, passed away on August 9th, 2020.  He was born June 26, 1943 in Indianapolis, Indiana to James and Fanny (Wheat) McAllister.

Joe was active in the U. S. Army, the Civil Defense force, Center Grove Little League, White River Volunteer Fire Department, Johnson County Sheriff Department and Bargersville Police Department.  Some will remember him as the Deputy Sheriff outside the Big Red Barn,  ensuring all the children could come and roller skate, worry free.  Early in his life and again later, Joe drove semi trucks for McLean's and McAllister's Trucking, in which he was the owner operator.  At one point Joe dove in to the service industry by providing Franklin and Trafalgar with a local ambulance service.  Everyone knew Joe loved to fish... and he passed doing just that.

Joe is survived by his wife of 35 years, Sharon McAllister; children, David, Susan, Don, Mike; two step-sons; James and Kevin Garrigus; his sister Donna Walls; brothers James, Wayne and Marvin; ten grandchildren; and one great granddaughter.

In addition to his parents, Joe was preceded in death by his son, Joseph Earl McAllister, II; and his brother, George.

Family will receive friends Thursday, August 20, 2020 from 4:00p.m. - 7:00p.m. at Forest Lawn Funeral Home, 1977 S. State Road 135, Greenwood, IN  46143, with a Celebration of Life to follow at 7:00p.m.
