John P. Scherer, age 93, of Franklin, passed away March 25, 2010 at Franklin United Methodist Community. He was born May 21, 1916 in Franklin to Phillip and Marie Scherer. John was a Tool and Die maker at Allison Diesel and Transmissions and retired in 1976. He was a member of U.A.W. Local #933 and a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Martinsville, IN. He was married to his wife of 50 years, Louise Quinton, and later to his wife of 16 years, Dorothy Baldwin. He was preceded in death by his wives, parents, two brothers, Albert and Otto Scherer, two sisters, Catherine Patrie, and Marquerite Scherer. John is survived by his son John P. Scherer, Jr., and his wife Sandy, of Douglasville, GA., two daughters, Norma Hurt and her husband, Bill, of Greenwood and Donna Daily, and her husband Roy, of Trafalgar; 8 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be Monday, March 29 at 10:00 AM at Forest Lawn Funeral Home, Greenwood, with visitation Sunday March 28, from 3:00 to 7:00PM at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.
