John F. Sheats, 78, of Indianapolis, passed away October 20, 2012. The son of Arthur and Mary Virginia (Shine) Sheats, John was born February 23, 1934 in Indianapolis.
After serving in the U.S. Navy, John retired as a computer programmer with Allisons GM. He was a member of the American Legion, Msgr. Downey Knights of Columbus #3660, was an avid Notre Dame and NASCAR fan and won many euchre tournaments.
Services 2:00 p.m. October 24, 2012 in Forest Lawn Funeral Home - 1977 South State Road 135, Greenwood, where friends may call after 1:00 p.m. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens, Greenwood.
John is survived by daughters, Michele L. Sheats and Angela (Darrell) Sheats Wilson, both of Indianapolis; sisters, Joan Wietzel of California and Mary Gin (Gene) Blackburn of Michaigan; grandchildren, Zach, Brittani, John and Brandon and great-granddaughter, Isabella. Besides his parents, he was preceded death by his wives, Louise M. Bohanan and Sandra J. Sheats and sister, Margurite Franz.
