John Robert Somerville, 69, of Greenwood, Indiana went home to be with his Lord Thursday, May 7, 2020.  He was born February 3, 1951 in Indianapolis to James Alvin and Clara Rebecca (Baugh) Somerville.

John graduated from Greenwood High School in 1969 and immediately went to work for Ford on the assembly line; he was a member of UAW Local 1111.  On February 5, 1970 he married the love of his life, Monta (Weddle) Somerville and together they raised 2 children.  John enjoyed being outdoors, boating, fishing and camping, but his passion was playing guitar and banjo and other instruments.  He played with the worship ministry at Hoosier Harvest Church in Martinsville for more than 15 years.  You could always find him "pickin' and a grinnin'".  Most of all, he loved his wife and kids and grandkids.  They were his world.

John is survived by his wife, Monta; children, Heather (Justin) Matlock, and Brandon Somerville; grandchildren, Alyssa, Jenna, Jacob, Bella, and Hadley; siblings, Steve Somerville, Carolyn Sue (Dale) Watson, David (Nancy) Somerville, and Paul (Kathy) Somerville; sister-in-law, Rose Somerville; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his brother, Mike Somerville, and his granddaughter, Mindy Grace Somerville.
