John Mitchell Soroko, 87, of Indianapolis, died Thursday, September 18, 2008. He was born on June 7, 1921 in Janesville, PA to Metro and Theresa (Ressetar) Soroko. He was a veteran of WWII in the US Army's 83rd Infantry Division. His unit landed on Normandy Beach during the Battle of the Bulge and traveled through Brittney, Northern France, and ended up in Germany in 1945. He received commendation for Heroic Achievement on the field of battle. He was General Manager of Warehousing and Trucking at Central Supply Co., for 25 years, retiring in the early 1980's. He was an active member of the American Legion, Acton Bunkerhill Post #220. He was an active member of the Southport Baptist Church in which he helped to build. Survivors include: wife : Ethel Mae Soroko, daughters: Shelly E. King, Sue Ellen Harrison, son: John D. Soroko, sister: Mary Kuklis, brothers: William and Sam Soroko, 4 grand daughters. Funeral services will be conducted at 10:00 AM on Thursday, September 25, 2008 at Forest Lawn Funeral Home, 1977 S. St Rd. 135, Greenwood, IN.
