John R. Souza, Sr., 76, of Greenwood, passed away December 5, 2012 at the Franklin United Methodist Community. The son of Antone and Mary Rapoza Souza, John was born August 27, 1936 in Fall River, Massachusetts.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force. John worked 32 years as a foundry worker with Navistar, retiring in 2000. John was a member of Our Lady of the Greenwood Catholic Church; he was an avid bowler with several bowling leagues. He loved fishing and hunting and his dogs, Jacob and Fonzie.

Services 1:00 p.m. Sunday, December 9, 2012 in Forest Lawn Funeral Home, Greenwood, where friends may call from 11:00 a.m. to service time. Private burial in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens, Greenwood.

John is survived by his sons, Brian L. (Peggy) Souza of Indianapolis and John R. (Kim) Souza, Jr. of Medford, Oregon; sister, Tillie Pavao of Fall River, Massachusetts; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Besides his parents, John was preceded in death by his wife, Mary L. Levesque Souza and sister, Charlotte Pavao.
