Johnnie W. Nesvarba, 84, of Greenfield, passed away April 14, 2013. The son of John Nesvarba and Alice Gentry Nesvarba Dickerson, Johnnie was born June 4, 1928 in Mitchellville, Tennessee.

Johnnie retired from the Indianapolis Police Department in 1990 after 33.5 years of service; then security work at National City Bank. He served in the Indiana Air National Guard. He was a member of the FOP, Lodge #86, was a member of the Indianapolis Drill Team and served as a foster father for the Pleasant Run Children's Home.

Survivors: daughters, Susan (Andy) Robertson of Greenfield and Tracey (Chuck) Hagedon of Greenwood; stepchildren, Brian, Loren and Cassell Turner, Linda Buff and Valerie Daniels; 20 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren. Besides his parents, Johnnie was preceded in death by his first wife, Pauline Sears Strubbe and second wife, Shirley Graham Nesvarba.

Friends may call from noon to 2:00 p.m. April 19, 2013 at Forest Lawn Funeral Home - 1977 South State Road 135, Greenwood, followed by funeral services at 2:00 p.m. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens, Greenwood.
