Mr. Jon Thomas Livingston, Greenwood, passed away on the morning of Wednesday, July 26, 2023 at the Franciscan Hospice House. He was 90. Jon was born July 23, 1933 in Indianapolis, Indiana, a son of the late Charles Leeland and Effie Katherine (Hardin) Livingston.
Jon attended Emmerich Manual High School and was a member of the graduating Class of 1952. After high school, he honorably served his country as a member of the United States Air Force. He served during the Korean Conflict and was a decorated veteran and had attained the rank of Staff Sergeant with the Strategic Air Command. He was a member of the American Legion in Monticello, Indiana and the VFW. He had also been a member of both the Elks Lodge and the Order of the Moose.
Jon loved sales and had been employed as General Manager with People's Outfitting Furniture Company and retired in 2000 after 40 years of service. He was a long-time member of the Southport Christian Church as well as the Knights of Columbus.
Jon spent his leisure time boating on Lake Shafer as well as traveling to various locations in the US, especially Michigan, Florida and Kentucky. He enjoyed snowmobiling, NASCAR, horse racing and trips to Las Vegas. Jon was a fan of the Indianapolis Colts, Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the Indiana Pacers.
Jon is survived by his children, Linda Raber and Jon Ryan (Cara) Livingston; his grandchildren, Ian Livingston, Chloe Livingston, Dustin Burtron, Anthony Livingston, Brandon Livingston and Chad Livingston; his great-grandchildren, Lucas Livingston, Demi Livingston, Danielle Price, Dustin Burtron, Dana Burtron and Nicholas Ray; a great-great-granddaughter, Addilyn Price; his sister, Margie Stanley as well as several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in passing by his wife, Geraldine Sue (Bishop) Livingston; his son, Gregory Livingston and his siblings, Charles Livingston Jr. and Helen Day.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 pm, Thursday, August 3, 2023 at Forest Lawn Funeral Home, Greenwood, with Pastor Danny Thomas officiating. He will be laid to rest beside his wife at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens following the services with military honors conferred by a contingent from the United States Air Force and the American Legion.
