Joseph B. DeWitt, age 62, of Boggstown IN, passed away March 28, 2011 surrounded by his family. He was born on January 25, 1949 in Indianapolis, IN to Joseph and Jane DeWitt. Joe graduated from Whiteland Community High School in 1967. He also served in the U.S. Army and served in Vietnam. After Vietnam, Joe became an Insurance Salesman, and from there he managed The Village Bowl Bowling Alley. He then began to work with Norman Zahn and learned to install carpet and eventually started his own carpet business. Joe retired from his company in 2005. Joe was preceded in death by his father, Joseph Homer DeWitt; his nephew, Brian Keith Blankenship. Survivors include his loving wife, Jeannie DeWitt; his mother, Jane DeWitt; children, Michael (Tina); Christopher (Amy); Shane DeWitt; Michele (Chris) Warren and Melissa (Billy) Scott, grandchildren, Joel; Aaron; Tucker; Josh; Denise; Sarah; Stacia; Grace; Mackenzie; Kristina and Joseph; two brothers, Stephen DeWitt I; James (Mary) DeWitt; one sister, Linda (Brian) Blankenship. Joe also leaves behind several nieces and nephews. Joe''s hobbies included caving, fishing, shooting pool, going to the casino, but most of all spending time with his family and friends. Family and friends will gather on Friday, April 1, 2011 in Forest Lawn Funeral Home from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM with the funeral service immediately following. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.
