Obituary

Joseph M Hayden Jr was born November 16, 1958 of Indianapolis. Joe passed January 14, 2026 at the age of 67 years young. Born to the late Joseph M & Bernice Hayden.

He was known by family as Mike, to friends and co-workers as Joe.

He retired from General Motors (Allison) in 2002. He enjoyed getting together with his GM retires buddies each month.

Joe would help just about anybody, whether family, friend, neighbor or a stranger.

He was like a jack of all trades but master of none, as the saying goes.  He did electrical, plumbing, and work on cars/trucks. In is younger years he also did roofing and concrete work with his uncle.

He loved to fish, was a sports fanatic in football, basketball, and baseball. Nascar he something he said he would love to drive. He enjoyed watching American Pickers, shows about automotive repairs and old shows from the 60's & 70's, that they had morals to teach children and how to treat people he would say. He and his son would go to Mecum auctions when in town, one of his favorite cars 57 Chevy.

Joe was married in July of 1979 to Linda Domangue, and were married 46 years. Linda says even though the first 5 years were rocking, there were more downs then ups, either one wanted to quit in the marriage, so they worked on it, making the ups more.  They tell each other I Love you with all my heart, body and soul for ever and ever.

Blessed with 2 children that he loved dearly.

Jeremiah Domangue, his wife Bridget Domangue. Jeremiah may be considered to some as a step son, but he would always say no, "He is my son". Joe called Jeremiah his Mr. Wizard, his tech smarts and his availability to figure things out impressed the hell of him. He watched him grow from a toddler in a wonderful man, father & grandfather.

Teresa Hayden, daughter, he called her is "Baby girl".  He spoiled her rotten in younger years and still gave her way to the very end. Pushed her in adult years. Always wanting the best for her.  She learned things from her father, that most girls don't when it comes to fixing things.  Learning how to do change her oil and other basic car repairs, remodeling, though he still didn't like her using use a saw and other dangerous tools, but it never stopped her.  He made her tough, he wanted her to be able to protect herself, and he succeeded.  She got her love for animals from him, she always tried bringing more home, even when mom said no dad told her yes! He ended up keeping a few because they got so attached to him, she couldn't take them. He was proud of the woman she became.

Joe has four grandchildren who he adored and loved deeply. Shelby, Dallas, Anthony and Jailey. Watching them grow up was hard for him. He would say their getting old and be starting their own lives and we won't be seeing them as much, but he would try to make every moment count.

Joe also has three great grandsons. Kingstin, William and Jagger.

Joe has six siblings. Patrick, William, Anne, Rose, Betty, and Linda.

From his wife: Joe/Mike always wondered if he would truly be missed when gone.  Mike, I can tell you this…you are truly loved and missed.  You will be in my heart forever.
