Joseph D.
Shue
March 23, 1939 – April 6, 2026
Mr. Joseph Duane “Joe” Shue, of Greenwood, passed away peacefully on the early evening of Monday, April 6, 2026, having attained the age of 87 years.
Joe was born March 23, 1939, in Indianapolis, Indiana, the son of the late Lester Duane and Margaret Frances (Souders) Shue. He attended Franklin Township High School and was a proud member of the Class of 1957. Shortly after graduation, Joe began a long and successful career with the Chevrolet Motor Division of General Motors Corporation, where he worked his way to Area Division Sales Manager. Through dedication and hard work, he built a respected career spanning 30 years before retiring in 1986.
A man of strong faith, Joe was a devoted member of Southport Heights Christian Church. He lived a life centered on family, faith, and simple joys. Joe had a wide range of interests and hobbies that brought him great happiness throughout his life. He especially enjoyed building and flying model airplanes alongside his brother-in-law, Jeff Lutane. He was also passionate about golf, motorcycle riding, and automobile racing. In his quieter moments, Joe found fulfillment in tending to his vegetable garden and, in later years, spending time on the computer. He had a special love for dogs and cherished their companionship.
Joe’s career afforded him many opportunities to travel, earning numerous trips which he joyfully shared with his beloved wife, Janey. Together, they created lasting memories through their travels, including 15 consecutive years vacationing at Big Sandy Lake in Minnesota—a place that held a special place in their hearts.
Joe will be deeply missed by his loving wife, Janey (Lutane) Shue; his children, Deeanna Jean (John) Crosby and Timothy Duane Shue; his cherished grandchildren, Caitlyn Alyse Kuhlman, Natalie Cornell, Joseph Thomas Shue and Jacob Shue; and his adored great-grandchildren, Finley, Riley, Cooper, and Ella Kate. He is also survived by his brothers, Charles Shue, Ronnie Shue and Mike Shue, along with several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Joe was preceded in passing by his sisters, Maureen Rittenberry and Virginia Deal.
Funeral services will be held at 11:30 a.m., Wednesday, April 15, 2026, at Southport Heights Christian Church, 7154 McFarland Road, Southport, with Pastor Steve Ferguson officiating. Entombment will take place at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends from 10:30 a.m. until the time of service, Wednesday, at the church.
For those choosing to make a memorial contribution in Joe’s honor, the family has suggested those be offered to Riley Hospital for Children.
