Joseph William "Bill" Doyle, Sr., 80, of Greenwood, passed away August 29, 2015. The son of Joseph L. and Clella E. Lents Doyle, Bill was born October 3, 1934 in Indianapolis.

Bill was a veteran of the U. S. Air Force. He retired in 1996 as an inspector from General Motors after 20 years. Previously, he was employed with FMC for 15 years, working as a tool & die maker and as an inspector. Bill was a member of SS. Francis and Clare Catholic Church; Past Financial Secretary for Msgr. Sheridan Council #6138 Knights of Columbus where he was also active in the 4th Degree and UAW Local #933.

Bill is survived by his wife, Ruth A. Snyder Doyle of Greenwood, whom he married on October 20, 1956; sons, Joseph W. Doyle, Jr. (wife, Patricia) of Greenwood, Timothy J. Doyle of Greenwood and Christopher R. Doyle (wife, Kandy) of Whiteland; daughter, Janet E. Bishop (husband, Richard) of Greenwood; brothers, John L. Doyle (wife, Patricia) of Indianapolis and Thomas W. Doyle (wife, Pat) of Glen St. Mary, FL; sisters, I. Ann McCarty (husband, Norman) of Indianapolis, D. Marilyn Kennedy (husband, Donald) of Greenwood, M. Rita Summers of Salem and Madonna M. Hasty (husband, John) of Indianapolis; 13 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Clella E. Doyle; grandson, R. David Bishop; brother, James C. Doyle and sister, A. Joanie Price.

Services 10:00 a.m. September 4, 2015 at Forest Lawn Funeral Home - 1977 South State Road 135, Greenwood. Burial with military honors will follow at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens. Friends may call from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. September 3, 2015 at the funeral home.
