Josephine Marie Hurt, age 75, of Indianapolis passed away Wednesday, December 9, 2015 at Community East Hospital. Josephine was born September 25, 1940 in Union City, IN to Pedro and Soledad (Batres) Torres. She was a graduate of Union City High School with the Class of 1958. Josephine worked part time for Hawthorne Elementary school. She married Wilbur Hurt on October 14, 1960 and he preceded her in death in 2007. Josephine was a member of New Beginning Baptist Church and was a volunteer at Community East Hospital. She was an avid history buff who loved to spend time with her family and especially her grandchildren.

Josephine is survived by her sons, Dwayne (Debra) Hurt of Indianapolis and Paul (Blanca) Hurt of San Marcos, TX; daughter, Rebecca Bell of Belle Isle, FL; sister, Mary Torres of Indianapolis; grandchildren, Alicia Hurt, Joshua Hurt, Ryan Parks, Leticia Hurt, Maribel Hurt, Lucinda Rivera, Rosalina Hurt and Paul Hurt, Jr; great grandchildren, Brayden and Lily Szak; several nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by her parents, brothers, Leno, Gus, Joe and Alec Torres; sisters Adela Thomas, Sylvia Baros and Virginia Torres.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 12, 2015 at 12:00 p.m. at Forest Lawn Funeral Home, Greenwood with burial to follow in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until time of service. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
