Joy Irene Palmer (Stanley) 92, passed away peacefully on October 23, 2023. She enjoyed a long full life. Joy was born on February 12, 1931, to Irene and George Stanley in Needham, Indiana. After graduation she met Ralph Palmer, and they would soon marry. The two were married in 1948 in Friendswood, Indiana. Their first of three children, Ralph Theodore Palmer was born in 1952, followed by Rick Lee Palmer, 1954, and Cathy Susanne Vaughn (Palmer) in 1958. The family settled in Greenwood, Indiana. In 1968, Joy would return to school and receive her diploma from Emmerich Manual High School. She would continue her studies and receive a degree in Interior Design.


Joy loved to paint and became very active in Artex painting. She also enjoyed playing the piano and would become a tradition at every holiday with family and friends. Her real passion was bowling on leagues with Ralph, her husband. She was quite the bowler and would eventually get the whole family involved.


Joy is survived by her son, Rick Palmer, her daughter, Cathy Vaughn, her daughter in law, Delaine Palmer, her son in law, Greg Moore, three grandchildren, Jeremy, Duane, and Heather, six great grandchildren, one grandson-law and two granddaughter in law.


Joy was preceded in death by her mother, Irene Stanley, father, George Stanley, husband, Ralph Palmer and son, Ralph Theodore Palmer.


She was so loved and will be greatly missed.
