Mrs. Joyce L. Boxman, of Greenwood, Indiana, went home to be with the Lord on the afternoon of Saturday, August 15, 2026, having attained the age of 85 years.
Joyce was born on June, 25, 1951, in Wabash, Indiana, the daughter of the late Russell Louis Ridenour and Henrietta VanPelt Ridenour.
She graduated from South Bend Central High School, class of 1959. Joyce earned her bachelor’s degree in music from Bethel College and went on to earn her master's from Indiana University Bloomington. Later, Joyce completed her teaching certification to be able to teach music to elementary school students in Indianapolis for a period of 10 years.
Joyce married her husband, Charles “Charlie” Boxman, on July 7, 1976, and they shared 50 years (and two days) of marriage together until Charlie passed away on July 9, 2026.
A woman of deep faith, Joyce was a devoted member West Morris Free Methodist Church for many years until she and her husband became members of the Southport Church of the Nazarene. Her generous spirit was evident throughout her life as she faithfully supported numerous charitable organizations alongside her husband, including the Indianapolis Zoo, the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra, the Indiana University Foundation, Bethel University, and her beloved church. She believed in giving back and quietly made a lasting impact on causes that enriched the lives of others.
Joyce and her husband were also enthusiastic supporters of Indiana University athletics, proudly holding season tickets for both football and basketball for several decades.
Joyce was a talented seamstress and enjoyed helping her friends and family with projects whenever she could. Joyce also enjoyed being a dedicated volunteer for a number of organizations. Joyce was also known to be a talented violinist who had the opportunity to perform with the Indiana Symphonic Orchestra for several years.
Above all, Joyce treasured the love and companionship of her family. She is survived by her brother, James Ridenour; her one niece; her two nephews.
In addition to her parents, Joyce is preceded in death by her husband, Charles “Charlie” Boxman.
