Joyce Ann Weliever, 82, of Bargersville, IN, passed away on Thursday, February 26, 2026. She was born to the late Francis and Annabelle Jenkins.
Joyce passed away surrounded by the love of her family, leaving behind a legacy of strength, creativity, humor, and unwavering devotion.
On June 22, 1963, she married the love of her life, John Robert Weliever. Together they were a true power couple, building family businesses that provided opportunities for many family members and friends. Joyce played an instrumental role in the success of Sherwood Country Club and the family car dealerships. She oversaw banquets and transformed wedding receptions into unforgettable celebrations. She could pull a party together effortlessly, making elegance look easy.
Joyce and John made their home in the old farmhouse on Emerson, where she worked her magic turning it into a beautiful home filled with charisma, warmth, and countless cherished childhood memories for her children. She loved the outdoors and took pride in cutting the grass and making the yard beautiful. Her flower gardens were a reflection of her vibrant spirit; she truly had a green thumb.
Creativity was woven into everything she did. Joyce had remarkable talent in decorating, sewing, reupholstering furniture, creating stained glass art, and painting. She was full of color in her artwork and in her personality.
Joyce lived life boldly. She encouraged her children to try new things and was never afraid of the unknown. She was not a complainer and never felt sorry for herself. Her philosophy was simple: if you don't like it, change it, fix it. Even after losing her beloved husband in a tragic plane crash in 1992, she remained a strong, positive force for her family and continued to embrace life fully.
Spunky, hilarious, and unapologetically herself, Joyce had strong opinions and wasn't afraid to speak her own mind often in ways that made you laugh even while she was telling it like it was. Those who knew her wouldn't have wanted her any other way.
She loved golfing and had an unbelievable number of hole-in-ones a testament to her competitive spirit and determination. Above all, she treasured time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, proudly known as "Grandma" and "Gigi." Being with her family brought her the greatest joy.
Joyce is survived by her three children: Daun Simpson; Kristie (Brian) Geitner; and John R. Weliever II; five grandchildren: Alexandria (Kendell) Miller, Rachel Simpson, Hayden Geitner, Jessica (Taylor) Kennell, and Jamie (Tyler) Jones; five great-grandchildren; and one sibling, Jack (Marcia) Jenkins.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John Weliever; her parents, Francis and Annabelle Jenkins; her son-in-law, Darryl Simpson; and three siblings, John Jenkins, Jim Jenkins, and Judy Engelking.
Visitation will be held Saturday, March 7, 2026, from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service at Forest Lawn Funeral Home. A memorial service will begin at 4:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
Joyce lived life in full color with strength, laughter, grit, and grace. Her legacy lives on in the family she loved fiercely and the many lives she touched along the way.
