Obituary

Julia Gordon Lammert, 92, of Indianapolis and Yuba City, California, passed away Sunday, August 19, 2012. The daughter of Alexander Rayburn Gordon and Eliza Gordon, Julia was born April 10, 1920 in Ironton, Missouri.
She graduated from Washington University with a BA in education and received her Master's degree from Indiana University. Julia taught at Center Grove School for six years and Clinton Young School in Indianapolis for 28 years.
She was an active member of Kappa Kappa Kappa, a philanthropic sorority promoting charity, culture and education. In her retirement she volunteered as an usher at the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra. Julia enjoyed reading, luncheons with her friends, quilting, gardening, babysitting for her grandchildren and their children, and traveling with family. She especially enjoyed her travels with her brother, Ray Gordon (deceased) and sister, Elsie Gordon Lammert. She was an avid sports enthusiast and followed many of the Indianapolis college and professional teams. She enjoyed exercising, swimming and walking. She walked several miles a day until her late 80's.
She is preceded in death by her loving husband, Frank William Lammert and her daughter, Sharon R. Lammert. Survivors include daughter, Cathy Lammert Price; sons, Larry Gordon Lammert and Frank Lee Lammert; eight grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held on Friday, August 31 at 11:00 a.m. for family and friends at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens at 1977 South State Road 135, Greenwood, Indiana.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer''s Association.
