Obituary

Mrs. Katherine Botts passed away on the early morning of Friday, April 23, 2021. She was born November 4, 1932 in Moss, Tennessee a daughter of the late Orville and Georgia (Hesson) McLerran.

Katerine attended Broad Ripple High School and was a member of the graduating Class of 1950. Sometime after her graduation, she attended and graduated from business college with an Associates degree in Accounting. She began a long career working for various companies but notably the Herff-Jones Corporation for 20 years, Crystal Flash for 5 years and she then retired from Oil Incorporated in Indianapolis in 1990 after 10 years of service. She enjoyed playing cards, dominoes, was an avid reader, doing puzzles, shopping at Goodwill and crossword puzzles.

Katherine also spent her spare time drawing and was a fantastic cook, especially her biscuits and sausage gravy. She loved sports and watching NASCAR and Jeff Gordon, attending Indianapolis Colts games with her grandson (sitting on the 50-yard line) and Indiana University basketball. Christmas was her holiday and she always looked forward to making it special for her family. She deeply loved her family and particularly her grandchildren.

Katherine was a member of Eastview Christian Church in Martinsville and the Lafayette Garden Club in Tennessee.

Katherine is survived by her only child, Susan (Jeff) Hobson; her grandchildren, Angie (Mike) Moncrief, Adam (Christie) Derloshon, Katie (Jason) Derloshon-Slutzky; her great-grandchildren, Logan, Brayden, Maggie, Hazel, Allison, Zek, Emery and Elias; her dog, Bella as well as several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in passing by her husband of nearly 51 years, Phillip Gordon Botts; her siblings, Mitchell McLerran, Pauline Nowicki and Peggy Sherry.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 pm, Monday, April 26, 2021 at Forest Lawn Funeral Home, Greenwood with Pastor Rick Miller officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.

The family will receive friends from 12:00 pm until the hour of service at the funeral home.
