Obituary

Mrs. Katherine Marie Werden, Whiteland, passed away peacefully on the afternoon of Thursday, February 2, 2023 surrounded by her family. She was 93. She was born September 14, 1929, a daughter of the late Elliott and Nell (Johnson) Beckham.
Katie was a graduate of Emmerich Manual High School and had been employed at US Rubber, Roselyn Bakery and Whiteland Cleaners. After retiring to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina she took a job at the Sandcastle Gift Shop.
Katie is survived by her children, Linda Kay (Delbert) Smith, Debra Ann Werden and Randall Edward (Linda) Werden; her grandchildren, Tina (Dan) Flack, Brian (Monica) Smith, Tonya (Jesse) Jones, Michael (Erin) Wood, Kai (Amanda) Werden and Kip (Cadie) Werden; her great-grandchildren, Bailey, Tanner, Trenton, Erika, Kkison, Haleigh, Diesel, Gracie, Karlie, Wrigley, Walker and Millie. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in passing by her husband, Harry Edward Werden, whom she married October 19, 1946 and passed in 2009; an infant son, Donald Martin as well as her siblings, Floyd Beckham and Jewel Smith.
Funeral services will be conducted at 7:00 pm, Wednesday, February 8, 2023 at Forest Lawn Funeral Home, Greenwood.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 pm until the time of service Wednesday at the funeral home.
Private interment will take place at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.
For those choosing to make a memorial contribution, the family has suggested those be offered to the charity of their choice in Katie's honor.
