Obituary

It is with deep love and profound sadness that we announce the passing of Kathleen Joy Land-Martin, who passed away peacefully on July 14, 2025, at the age of 72.

Kathleen was born to Lester McRee and Mary Hyndman, the only daughter in a lively household of seven children. Growing up surrounded by brothers, Kathleen developed a quiet strength, a sharp sense of humor, and a lifelong capacity for compassion and resilience. She shared a lifelong bond with her brothers and is lovingly remembered by her surviving siblings.

Kathleen lived a life full of grace, warmth, and unwavering devotion to her family. She was a loving mother to her daughter, Abra, and a caring stepmother to Michael (Sarah) and Alex (Paige). Her greatest joy came from time spent with her grandchildren—one grandson and four granddaughters—whom she cherished deeply. She delighted in every game played, story shared, and hug exchanged with them.

A nurturer by nature, Kathleen found peace in her gardens, where she grew flowers, vegetables, and beauty with equal care. Her love for stained glass was another expression of her creativity and inner light—finding joy in piecing together fragile fragments to make something whole and radiant.

Her legacy lives on in the lives she touched, the beauty she cultivated, and the love she gave freely and fully. Kathleen will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who knew her.

Kathleen is survived by her daughter, Abra Land; her step children, Michael (Sarah) Martin and Alex (Paige) Martin; her grandchildren, Fiona Yano, Wyatt Martin, Isabella Martin, Aspen Martin, and Journee Martin;  her siblings, Mike (Lesbia) McRee and Dave (Monica) McRee; her many nieces and nephews.
Kathleen is preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband, Brad Martin; her siblings, Kenny McRee, Glen McRee, Danny McRee, and Tim McRee.
The visitation and memorial service will be announced at a later date.
The family invites you to plant something in her memory—something that grows.
