Kenneth E. Foster, age 95, of Franklin, passed away June 22, 2017 at Christina Place of Franklin. The son of Floyd and Ada Marie Thumann Foster, Kenneth was born July 18, 1921 in Indianapolis.

After serving in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, Kenneth worked for the United States Post Office, from February 6, 1958 to February 3, 1984, retiring as a distribution clerk. He was a member of Chapter 157 of the National Association of Retired Federal Employees; he was a history buff, especially of the Civil War; he did extensive genealogy research of his ancestors. He took interest in trains, trolleys and the Interurban. He enjoyed playing the clarinet, listening to Big Band, especially of the 1940''s and to Glenn Miller.

Kenneth is survived by his wife, Elizabeth A. Martin Foster of Franklin, whom he married on February 1, 1953; son, James W. Foster of Indianapolis; daughters, Cathy M. (Paul) Stieff of New Berlin, WI and Sally J. (Dwayne) Tinkle of Lebanon; sister, Marcia (Lester) Gordon of Carmel; grandchildren, Joshua W. Tinkle, Jessica L. Tinkle, Jamie M. Tinkle, Merceded M. Stieff and Adelaide G. Stieff. In addition to his parents, Kenneth was preceded in death by a brother, Robert W. Foster.

Funeral services will be conducted 12:00 p.m. June 27, 2017 at Forest Lawn Funeral Home - 1977 South State Road 135, Greenwood, where friends may call starting at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens, Greenwood.
