Obituary

Mr. Kenneth Reed 'Kenny'  Pinkiston, of Indianapolis, passed away on the afternoon of Thursday, June 19, 2025. He was 76 years old.

Kenny was born on October 9, 1948, in Trenton, Kentucky, a son of the late Charles James Pinkiston and Geneva Markham Pierson. As a young man, he moved to Indianapolis and graduated from Emmerich Manual High School. He continued his education and earned an Associate degree in management.

For over four decades, Kenny was a dedicated employee at the Southport Advanced Wastewater Treatment Plant, where he served in management. He was well respected by his coworkers and took great pride in his work and leadership.

Outside of his career, Kenny had a lifelong love of bowling, faithfully participating in the Saturday Night Western Bowl League for more than 40 years. He was a skilled woodworker, an avid fisherman and boater, and a natural handyman who could fix just about anything. He also loved playing cards, particularly Poker and Texas Hold 'Em, and enjoyed visiting the riverboat casinos for a little fun and excitement.

Kenny was never happier than when surrounded by his family. He was a devoted father and grandfather who supported his children and grandchildren in their activities and accomplishments. He would agree that his greatest achievement in life was his family. Whether enjoying a cold beverage at a family gathering or sharing a laugh over a game of cards, Kenny brought warmth and humor to every moment.

Kenny is survived by his children: Ray (Samantha) Kidwell, Sherry (Shawn) Barron, Kim Trezzo, Angie Smith, Becky Vanlandingham and Ray (Nikki) Pinkiston; thirteen grandchildren and seventeen great-grandchildren. Also surviving are his sister, Charlene Abney, his brother, Robert Pinkiston, and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Kenny was preceded in passing by his beloved wife, Gail Pinkiston; his grandson, AJ Barron; and his siblings, Earl Pinkiston, Charlie Pinkiston, and Geraldine Farley.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 1, 2025, at Forest Lawn Funeral Home, Greenwood with Sam Trezzo officiating. Kenny will be laid to rest beside his wife following the service at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens. Family and friends are invited to gather from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home.
