Kenneth "Kenny" J. Ratliff, 88, of Franklin, formerly of Brown County, Indiana, passed away May 2, 2013 at the Franklin United Methodist Community. The son of Carrie and Rachael Pace Ratliff, Kenny was born June 11, 1924 in Lawrence County, Arkansas.
After 35 years of service, Kenneth retired in 1984 as a machinist with RCA. He enjoyed woodworking, farming and liked to play baseball. He loved to read western novels, especially by author Zane Grey.
Kenneth is survived by his wife, Myrtle M. Blythe Ratliff of Franklin, whom he married on May 1, 1954 in Indianapolis; sons, Thomas (Susie) Sterrett of Coatesville and Michael (Kim) Ratliff of Morgantown; daughters, Dorothy Logsdow of Indianapolis, Vickie Dawson of South Carolina, Janey (Danny) Sawyer of Virginia, Bonnie (Grover) Hamilton of Ellettsville, Melody (Dave) Rutherford of Franklin and Amanda (Troy) Jackson of Cincinnati, Ohio; sisters, Margie Sacco of Indianapolis, Jolene Munns of Bainbridge and Jean Davis of Indianapolis; 19 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren. Besides his parents, Kenny was preceded in death by brothers, Truel, Garland and Charles Ratliff; sisters, Imo Mason and Dorothy Nunnelly).
Services 11:00 a.m. May 7, 2013 in Forest Lawn Funeral Home - 1977 South State Road 135, Greenwood. Friends may call from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. May 6, 2013 at the funeral home. Burial will follow services at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens, Greenwood.
