Kenneth John Schimmel, 82, of Indianapolis, was born January 9, 1931 in Waukesha, Wisconsin and passed peacefully with family around him on August 9, 2013.

He was a graduate of Waukesha High School and earned a degree as an electronic engineer from Milwaukee School of Engineering. He married Wanda Westfahl in 1956. Ken retired from Endress-Hauser. Ken loved his Norwegian Elkhound dogs, music, bird watching and gardening.

Survived by wife Wanda; daughter Paula Winklepleck, son Keith (Kim) and grandchildren, Konrad (Jessica), Andrea, Aaron, Kaleb, April and Kathleen Schimmel; brother Donald Schimmel and nephews and a niece.

The family would like to thank the ICU nurses at St. Francis Indianapolis for their kindness and care.

Visitation will be August 16, 2013 from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. with funeral services following at Forest Lawn Funeral Home - 1977 South State Road 135, Greenwood. Private entombment will be at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens, Greenwood.
