Larry J. Binnie

Larry J. Binnie passed away peacefully December 8, 2022. The son of Lester H. and Doris R. (Ireland) Binnie, Larry was born July 26, 1934, in Louisville, KY. He was raised in Vincennes, IN, where he graduated from Lincoln High School. and Vincennes University. Larry served two years in the United States Army before attending Indiana Central College (UIndy). After graduating, he married Mary Lee Speth, and they moved to Indianapolis.

Larry worked as Production & Inventory Control Manager for most of his 37-year career with Diamond Chain Co. They settled in Greenwood, IN, where they raised four children. He was a longtime member of Smith Valley Baptist Church. After 53 years of marriage, Mary Lee passed in 2012. Larry has been married to Rita Gale since 2016. Larry was preceded in death by parents Lester and Doris (Ireland) Binnie, and wife Mary Lee (Speth) Binnie. He is survived by wife Rita Gale, children Carole, Steve (Sally), Joyce and Susan (Kevin Elzer), granddaughters Ami Buczek, Stephanie (Binnie) Imlay and Samantha Binnie as well as brothers David Binnie and Stan Binnie.
Services will be on Monday, December 19 at Noon at Forest Lawn Funeral Home, 1977 S State Rd. 135 in Greenwood, with visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m. Larry will be laid to rest alongside Mary Lee at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens. In lieu of flowers, it was Larry's wish that donations be made to The Nature Conservancy, to honor his love of nature.
