Larry Dale Walker, age 71, of Indianapolis, passed away Thursday, August 21, 2014 with his family at his side. He was born February 11, 1943 to Raymond Dale and Thelma (Rhude) Walker.
Larry was a graduate of Franklin High School with the Class of 1961. He was a U.S.Army Vietnam War veteran, Company C, 2nd Battalion, 16th Infantry 1st Infantry Division (The Big Red One) who was awarded a Purple Heart for wounds received on April 11, 1966. Larry was a member of the V.F.W., American Legion, Disabled American Veterans and the Eagles.
He married the former Connie Greathouse on August 7, 1970 and she preceded him in death on September 24, 2002. Larry is survived by his mother, Thelma Hartsel; son, Aaron Walker and wife, Alix and grandchild, Kensley Walker. He was also preceded in death by his father and brothers, Jerry Walker and William Hartsel.
Funeral services will be held Monday, August 25, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. at Forest Lawn Funeral Home, Greenwood, with entombment to follow with full military honors in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens. Visitation will be Sunday from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
