Larry Young, 71, of Indianapolis, passed away peacefully at home on August 19, 2025, with his loving wife of 43 years, Michele Young, by his side.
He is survived by his wife Michele; sons Joseph (Mandy), Anthony (Brittany), and son-in-law, Adam Boone; daughters, Michelle Banda (Harrison) and Christal Herthel (Cory); brother, Jerry Young (Debbie); nine grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his daughter Amber Boone and parents John and Teena Young.
Larry was a graduate of Franklin Central High School. He worked alongside his father and brother at Young & Sons, where he rebuilt diesel engines with pride and skill. He retired early due to health concerns but remained passionate about the work and tools he loved- always insisting on having two of everything in his collection.
A member of Thompson Road Baptist Church, Larry cherished his Bible study time with Pastor Slutz and lived his faith daily. He was known for giving nicknames to everyone- a tradition that began in childhood when his brother gave him his first nickname, "Oink," which later became simply "O".
Larry loved baseball, tools, a good laugh, and above all, his family. According to his daughters and nieces, he gave the best hugs and will be remembered for his kind heart, quiet strength, and the love he poured into those around him.
A visitation for Larry will be held on Wednesday, August 27, 2025, at Forest Lawn Funeral Home from 11:30 am to 1:00 pm. The funeral service will be on Wednesday, August 27, 2025, at 1:00 pm. Entombment will immediately follow at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens at 2:00 pm.
