Laura Jean Steele, 87, went to be with the Lord Monday, March 15, 2010. She was born November 6, 1922 in Jackson, Kentucky to the late Orlena and Wesley Turner. At the age of 19, Laura moved to Indianapolis where she raised her family. Later in life she worked at the Marion County Children's Guardian Home retiring after 10 years. Laura was a member of the Irvington Presbyterian Church for 50 years and greatly enjoyed participating in the Singles Ministry. Left to cherish memories of her brilliant blue eyes and smile are her daughters and a son in-law :Linda Walton, Sondra Cannon, Jamie Yager and Vicki & Steve Rady. Eight grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren, and many friends. She is preceded by her parents, eight siblings and her oldest daughter: Greta Kell. Family will receive friends from 6-8 PM Wednesday. Funeral Service will be at 2:00 PM Thursday at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens and Funeral Home, 1977 South State Road 135, Greenwood, IN 46143. Entombment to follow at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens. In lieu of flowers memorials may be given in memory of Laura to the Irvington Presbyterian Singles Ministry, 55 Johnson Avenue, Indianapolis, IN 46219.
