After graduating high school in Illinois, Laura earned her Bachelor's degree in Communications from Bradley University and studied abroad in London, England. She attended Grace Evangelical Church and was a good and faithful servant of the Lord. She managed bookstores, publishing companies, and worked with the Pyramid of Enlightenment for 18 years. She continued her learning through the School of Metaphysics in Indianapolis and was a member of the Astrology Professional Learning Group. Laura was a skilled, intelligent writer, dissecting astrology, philosophy, religion and the sanctity of life. She was incredibly proud of her daughter, Stephanie, and of her accomplishments. Nothing brought her greater joy than being a mother to Stephanie.

Laura is survived by her daughter, Stephanie Vollmer; her brothers, Joe Borter, Will Borter and John Borter; and several cousins and nieces and nephews, including Christina Becker, Rachael Tollefson, Joseph Borter and Bobby Richards.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in passing by her husband of 22 years, Stephen Vollmer as well as her sister, Pamela Richards.
