Lavera Arnett Hale, age 93, of Greenwood, passed away Thursday, January 16, 2014. She was born June 22, 1920 in Miami County, OH to Ira and Bertha (Baker) Arnett. She married Robert J. Hale and he preceded her in death in 1992. She was a member of Christ our Shepherd Church of the Brethren in Greenwood. Lavera was an Underwriter for Farm Bureau Insurance for many years, retiring in 1972. She was an avid gardener and she loved to do crafts and cook. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
Lavera is survived by her son, Robert J. (Sally) Hale, Jr. of Fairbanks, AK; six grandchildren; fourteen great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, daughter, Sheila Rankin; son, Fredrick Ron Hale; brothers, Russell, Dale, Carl and Paul Arnett; sisters, Onda Decker and Helen Welbaum.
A Celebration of Life service will be held Sunday, January 26, 2014 at 1:30 p.m. at Christ our Shepherd Church of the Brethren, with Pastor Wayne Grumbling officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to the Veteran''s Fund at Christ our Shepherd Church of the Brethren, 857 N. State Rd. 135, Greenwood, IN 46142, or the American Heart Assoc. or to the charity of the donor''s choice.
