Laverne B. Hewitt, age 94, of Indianapolis, passed away Friday, April 12, 2013 with her family at her side. She was born October 26, 1918 in Loogootee, IN to Ernest and Cora (Bridgewater) Boyles. She was a Keypunch Operator for Dow Chemical. She married Murray Hewitt on February 11, 1939 and he preceded her in death in 1999. Laverne was a member of Southwest Nazarene Church and loved to do puzzles, garden and quilt in her earlier years. She also enjoyed spending time with her family.
Laverne is survived by her son, Kenneth (Sandra) Hewitt; brother, Winford Boyles; grandchildren, Michael Hewitt and Cheryl (Mike) Craig; four great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brother, Vernon Boyles; sister, Judy Hendrickson and grandson, Jeffrey Hewitt.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, April 18 at 1:00 p.m. at Forest Lawn Funeral Home, Greenwood with entombment to follow in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens. Visitation will be Wednesday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Southwest Nazarene Church, 4797 Tincher Rd, Indianapolis, IN 46221.
