Lawrence "Larry" E. Porter, 73, of Bargersville, IN went home to be with the Lord Friday, January 28, 2011. Larry was born to the late H. Elmer and R. Evelyn Riddell Porter on April 14, 1937 in Indianapolis. He married Reva J. Robison on May 18, 1958 and she survives. Larry was a member of the Greenwood Bible Baptist Church, where he enjoyed the preaching of the word and fellowship with his many friends. He also enjoyed his very special neighbors and friends. He attended schools in Indianapolis, Greenwood, Seymour and Hayden Indiana. Larry served our county in the US Navy. He graduated from Lincoln Technical Institute and went on to be a mechanic for 16 years owning and operating Porter Pace Automotive. He later owned Porter Place Furniture near Bargersville. After retirement he and his wife travel the US in their RV visiting family and friends along the way. Surviving with his wife of 52 years are two son and daughter-in-laws: Keith and Kathleen Porter, Bruce and Pam Porter. Four grandchildren: Anna Agee, Lucas, Noah and Joshua Porter. One brother: Glen Porter. One sister: and brother-in-law: Ruth and Kenneth Vincent. Four sister-in-laws: Sandra and Kathy Porter, Rita Hall and Linda Garrett. One brother-in-law: Maurice Robison. One aunt: Mary Merriman. Several nieces and nephews. He is preceded by his parents, four brothers: Ronald, Harvey, John and Donald Porter. One half sister: Martha Jean Wilson. Family will receive friends Monday from 5-8 pm at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens and Funeral Home, 1977 South State Road 135, Greenwood, IN 46143. Funeral will be at 10:30 am Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will be at 2:30 pm Tuesday at Hayden Cemetery in Hayden, IN.
