Leatha “Joan” Pickell, Greenwood, IN, passed away on Wednesday, May 27, 2026. She was 77 years old. Joan was born in Indianapolis, IN to her parents Noble and Birdena Brown. Joan was baptized into the Christian faith at her home church in Indianapolis, Fleming Garden Christian Church, when she was 18 with her parents' support. She graduated from Ben Davis High School in 1967.Joan worked as a receptionist at Sysco Foods for 15 years. She had a strong love for music, evident with her beautiful singing voice and fondness for musicals.

Joan is survived by her children: Michelle (Toni) Wagner-Mathew of Machesney Park, IL, Matthew (La Toya) Pickell of Glen Burnie, MD, and Jennifer (Aaron) Pickell of Greenwood, IN; several grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren and one on the way. 

Joan is preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Bob Brown.
