Obituary

Lee Genrich, Greenwood, IN, passed away on the early morning of Sunday, September 24, 2023. He was 83 years old. Lee was born in East Chicago, IN to his parents Paul and Elsie Genrich. He graduated from Thornton Fractional North High School. Lee married his wife, Dolores, in 1961 and they shared 62.5 years of marriage together. Lee answered the call of this nation by enlisting into the United States Army in 1960 and after his period of faithful service was honorably discharged in 1966.
Lee worked in the supply chain for Roadway Express for over 40 years and was able to retire after his many years of service. Lee was a lifelong man of faith and was a member of Our Lady of Greenwood Catholic Church with his wife for 50 years. Lee was a member of the American Legion and the Knights of Columbus. Lee was very patriotic and was always very proud of his service for the United States Army. Lee enjoyed watching motor racing and attending car shows. He would often be accompanied by his grandson for the Greenwood Car Show, where he could admire various vintage cars at his leisure. The Indianapolis 500 was always one of Lee's favorite spectacles to enjoy. Lee was a family man through and through; he spent as much time with his family as possible. He enjoyed their company by playing cards and celebrating holidays. Lee's easy going and steadfast nature will be dearly missed by those he leaves behind.
Lee is survived by his wife, Dolores Genrich; his children, Lorie (Paul) Nagy, David (Mona) Genrich, Dawn Mehringer, Robert (Leah) Genrich and Scott (Melissa) Genrich; his 11 grandchildren; his 9 great grandchildren; his siblings, Carl and Ken Genrich;
Lee is preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Dean Genrich.
A visitation for Lee will be held on Thursday, September 28, 2023 at Forest Lawn Funeral Home from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm. The funeral service will be on Thursday, September 28, 2023 at 1:00 pm. Burial will immediately follow at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens at 2:00 pm
