Obituary

Leland Ross Steck, age 89, of Greenwood, passed away September 5, 2017. The son of Albert and Ina Gluesenkamp Steck, Leland was born February 25, 1928 in Indianapolis, Indiana.

Leland worked as an accountant with the GM Truck and Bus plant in Indianapolis for 47 years, retiring in 1988. He was a member of St. Andrew United Methodist Church. Having traveled to every state in the Union, Leland collected a small soil sample from each. He spent quality time with his family, especially with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren

Leland is survived by his wife, Betty Sanders Steck of Greenwood; his daughter, Nina Zike of Indianapolis; grandchildren, Chris Zike and Jenna (Anthony) Beckham, both of Indianapolis; his great-grandchildren. Mason and Grant Zike, Carter, Marshall and Harrison Beckham. In addition to his parents, Leland was preceded in death by his sister, Alberta Jean Staley and son-in-law, David Zike.

Rev. Eric Kersey will conduct graveside services at 2:30 p.m. September 7, 2017 at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens, Greenwood, where friends may call from 12:00 noon to 2:00 p.m. at Forest Lawn Funeral Home - 1977 South State Road 135, Greenwood.
