Lena M. Achenbach, age 84 of Indianapolis, died July 8th, 2009 at her home. Born August 29, 1924 in Indianapolis, she was the daughter of Elmer and Alberta (Fawcett) Storms. On September 22, 1945, she married Edgar E. Achenbach who died February 9, 2002. Lena and Edgar moved to Brown County in 1954 and lived there until moving to Indianapolis in 1984.

She retired from Shuron Continental Optical in 1977 after 23 years of service. Lena attended the Morgantown Baptist Church and loved roses, to crochet, shop and especially loved to play bingo and go to the gambling boats.

Survivors include 2 sons: Edward E. (Bette) Achenbach and George Achenbach; 3 daughters: Patricia Hack, Edna (Donald) Vaught and Alice (Larry) Fisher. Lena also has 10 grandchildren, 24 Great-Grandchildren, 11 Great-Great-Grandchildren and several nieces and nephews surviving. Lena was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son Herman Lee Achenbach, daughter Roselind Achenbach, 2 brothers, 2 sisters, and 2 grandchildren.

Services will be 1:30pm Monday, July 13, 2009 at Forest Lawn Funeral Home, 1977 South State Road 135 in Greenwood, IN 46143. Visitation will be Sunday, July 12th, from 4:00pm to 8:00pm. Memorials can be made to the American Cancer Society.
