Leo Richard Grubbs went home to be with the Lord this past Thursday morning, April 23 ^rd , 2020.

Leo was born Feb. 8 ^th , 1934 in Ripley County, Indiana.. He married Jewel Bolt on Aug. 15th, 1953. Shortly after, Leo enlisted in the Army Reserve until receiving an Honorable Discharge on Oct.12 ^th , 1958 with the rank of Specialist 3 ^rd Class of the 38 ^th Infantry Division. Together they had three children. Jewel passed away May 21 ^st , 2011. They had been married 57 years. Leo then married Faye Chappelow on Sept. 24 ^th , 2011. They resided in New Whiteland, Indiana until Leo was admitted to the Methodist Home due to physical disabilities. He was a resident there until his recent death. Leo and Faye had been married for nearly 9 years. Prior to his failing health Leo enjoyed farming and was a very skilled carpenter. He used his carpentry skills to help with many building projects at the churches he attended.

Leo was a dedicated Christian, serving several congregations during his lifetime. He loved his Lord, Jesus Christ and was a loving, unselfish father and husband. He was a loyal friend to all who knew him.

He was a member of Solid Rock Church in Whiteland, Indiana. He served as a board member and member of the worship team. He was skilled in playing the guitar, harmonica and accordian.  He will be greatly missed.

Leo was preceded in death by his wife Jewel, 4 brothers and 4 sisters. He is survived by his wife, Faye Chappelow Grubbs, two sons, one daughter and their spouses; Leo Jr. and Laura Grubbs, David and Sherry Grubbs and Patty and Craig Clark.

Leo is also survived by 4 step sons and 1 step daughter and their spouses; Dan and Pat Chappelow, Paul and Tamara Chappelow, Michael and Amber Chappelow, Diane and Lane Wagers and Randy Chappelow. In addition, Leo is survived by 9 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, 10 step grandchildren and 6 great step grandchildren.

Due to the pandemic, there will be no public funeral service. There will be a graveside committal and a military presentation of the US flag to Faye Grubbs. Only 10 immediate family members will be allowed. A celebration of Leo's life will be held at a later date.
