Leoda Stephens, Greenwood, IN, passed away on Thursday, December 7, 2023. She was 92 years old. Leoda was born in Vester, KY to her parents Lawrence and Irene Burton. She graduated from high school and married Billy Stephens in 1951 in Christine, KY. Billy and Leoda shared 52 years of marriage together before Billy passed away in January of 2002.
Leoda's primary role was a homemaker and mother to her beloved family. Leoda was a member of Indianapolis Baptist Temple since 1967. She was a talented seamstress and crafter. Leoda was a dedicated fan of the Indianapolis 500 for many years. She loved cooking, gardening, and spending time with her family. Leoda's caring personality will be dearly missed.
Leoda is survived by her children, Billy (Faye) Stephens Jr., Roger (Susie) Stephens, and Terry (Tina) Stephens; her 10 grandchildren; her 17 great grandchildren; her 10 great great grandchildren; her numerous nieces and nephews.
Leoda is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Billy; her 6 siblings.
A visitation for Leoda will be held on Friday, December 15, 2023 at Forest Lawn Funeral Home from 9:00 am to 11:00 am. The funeral service will be on Friday, December 15, 2023 at 11:00 am. Burial will immediately follow at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens at 12:00 pm.
