Leonard Ora Shaw, 92, of Indianapolis, passed away January 19, 2016. The son of Leland and Roxie Bex Shaw, Leonard was born July 19, 1923 in Shoals, Indiana.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served during World War II. After 35 years of service as a truck driver, he retired from Anderson Trucking. He later sold oak furniture in Indianapolis and Nashville for 20 years. Leonard was a member of Teamsters Local 135, Greenwood American Legion Post 252, enjoyed collecting coins and was a NASCAR fan following Richard Petty.
Leonard is survived by his daughters, Carol (Craig) Sharpe of Carmel and Candice (John) Burrell of Indianapolis; brother, William Shaw of Shoals; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Elizabeth Crouch Shaw; brothers, Donald and Gene Shaw and sister, Doris Shaw.
The United States Army and the Greenwood American Legion Post 252 will conduct military honors at 11:00 a.m. January 22, 2015 at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens - 1977 South State Road 135, Greenwood.
The family has requested in lieu of flowers that memorial contributions be made to the American Legion Department of Indiana - 5440 Herbert Lord Road Indianapolis, Indiana 46216.
