Mr. LeRoy James McDowell, Greenwood, passed away on the early morning of Sunday, November 1, 2020. He was 82. LeRoy was born March 28, 1938 in West Salem, Illinois a son of the late Woodrow J. and Bernita (Dinsmore) McDowell.

LeRoy attended Edwards County (IL) schools and for 35 years was the owner of Logsdon Radiator on Main Street in Greenwood retiring in 2009. He was a proud veteran having served his country in the United States Army Reserves. He was a member of the American Legion Post 252 in Greenwood where he served two terms as post commander and was a member of the Color Guard. He was also a member of the VFW, Masonic Lodge and was also a Shriner. LeRoy enjoyed taking fishing trips to Minnesota, playing golf and watching NASCAR. He especially enjoyed Sunday dinners with his family.

LeRoy is survived by his sons, Gary (Shelly) McDowell and John (Crissy) McDowell; his grandchildren, Jason (Heather) McDowell, Brandi McDowell, Colby McDowell and Connor McDowell; four great-grandchildren; a sister, Kate Runyon as well as several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in passing by his wife, Patricia Ann (Armstrong) McDowell and his twin brothers, Ronnie and Donnie McDowell.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 am, Friday, November 6, 2020 at Forest Lawn Funeral Home, 1977 South State Road 135, Greenwood. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 8:00 pm, Thursday, November 5, 2020 at the funeral home.
