Obituary

Mr. Lewis Edward Leffler, Greenwood, passed away on the morning of Tuesday, January 12, 2021. He was 79. Lewis was born March 29, 1941 in Shelbyville, Indiana a son of the late William Leffler and Priscilla Margaret (Eads) Oliphant.

Lewis was a 1958 graduate of George Washington High School where he was a member of the swimming team. He had taken college courses in Electrical Engineering and was employed by Link-Belt for 26 years as an electrician before retiring in 1985. He then worked for an additional 14 years for Rolls Royce also as an electrician and as an instructor at the training center and retired in 2006. Lewis honorably and proudly served his country in the United States Navy. He was a member of Smith Valley United Methodist Church in Greenwood where he was active in many areas of ministry at the church. He was also a member of the American Legion, Moose Lodge and United Auto Workers Local 933. Along with his wife, he was a member of the Country Kickers Dance Club and had served as a vice president. Lewis spent much of his leisure time dancing, listening to country music,  bowling and playing softball. He also enjoyed watching Notre Dame football as well as Indiana University basketball. Lewis was the rock of his family. He dearly loved each and every one of them, especially his grandchildren. He was a wonderful husband and father.

Lewis is survived by his wife Beverly Joann (Byers) Leffler, whom he married December 8, 1984; his children, Teresa (Tom) Kashman, Jeff (Vicki) Leffler, Kim (Ron) Nelson, Steve Leffler, Lisa (Carl) Quinn, John (Linda) Conn, Trenda (Michael) Kincade and Curt Conn; 32 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild his siblings, Donnie Oliphant, Ron Oliphant and Peggy (Ray) Bostic as well as several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in passing by his step-father, Lewis Oliphant; his sons, Mark Edward Leffler, Mark Allen Conn and Eddie Dean Conn and a sister, Judith Hill

Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 pm, Thursday, January 21, 2021 at Forest Lawn Funeral Home, Greenwood with burial following at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.

The family will receive friends from 11:00 am until the time of service Thursday.

For those choosing to make a memorial contribution, the family has suggested those be offered to the American Parkinson Disease Association.

The safety of our families and visitors is of our utmost priority. We ask that all attendees wear facial coverings and practice social distancing. Attendance will be limited to 25 people.
